# Adding people by inviting them

People join a URL by being invited to one of its Projects. There is no separate step to add someone to a URL. When you invite someone to a Project, TrialGrid also adds them to that Project's URL.

## Inviting people to a Project

To invite people you need the **Manager** or **User** permission on the URL, or a Project Role with the **Manage Team** permission in that Project. As an administrator you have every URL permission already.

1. Go to the Project home page.
2. Click the **Team Members** card.
3. Click **Add Team Members**.
4. The page shows a box for each Project Role. Enter the email addresses of the people who should have that role. You can enter up to 50 at a time, separated by commas, spaces or new lines.
5. Click **Save**.

People who already have a TrialGrid account are told by email that they can now work in the Project. People who do not have an account are sent an invitation to set one up. They must accept it within the time your Organization allows, or be invited again from the Project team list.

Each person has one role in a Project. To change someone's role, invite them again with the new role.

Inviting someone whose account has been deactivated switches their account back on.

## Which Organization new people join

Every user belongs to one Organization. A new user joins the Organization that owns their email address's domain, if there is one in TrialGrid. Otherwise they join the Organization that owns the Project's URL.

If your Organization uses [Single Sign On](../sso.html.md#sso), new users from your domains sign in through it.

People who join a different Organization can work in your Projects through their Project Role, but cannot be given [URL permissions](url_permissions.html.md#admin-guide-url-permissions).

## What new members of a URL can do

Someone added to a URL this way has no URL permissions. They can see the URL's Projects, except any Project where **All URL users can view** is turned off. They can make changes only in the Projects where they hold a Project Role, and only what that role allows. To let them manage the URL itself, give them [URL permissions](url_permissions.html.md#admin-guide-url-permissions).
