Setting up Organization Roles

An Organization Role is a named set of Organization permissions. Give people the same role when they do the same job. When the job changes, you change the role once and it changes for everyone who holds it.

Creating a role

  1. Go to your Organization home page.

  2. Click the Organization Roles card.

  3. Click Add Organization Role.

  4. Enter a name that says what the person does, such as "Study Build Lead", and a description.

  5. Switch on the permissions the role needs, then save.

The permissions are grouped as Administration, URLs, Reporting and API. Each one is described on the Organization Roles page.

A new role is held by nobody until you give it to someone.

Giving a user a role

  1. Go to your Organization home page.

  2. Click the Org Team Members card.

  3. Open the user from the list.

  4. Choose a role from the Organization Role list, or No role to give them no Organization permissions.

  5. Save.

Most users need No role. Organization permissions are for the people who run the Organization. Managing a URL is controlled by URL permissions, and what people do inside Projects is controlled by Project Roles.

Changing and deleting roles

Changing a role's permissions changes them straight away for everyone who holds it. The role's Users tab shows who that is. To change one person only, give them a different role.

You can only delete a role that nobody holds. Move its holders to another role first.
