Setting up Project Roles
A Project Role is a named set of permissions for working in a Project and its Drafts. Roles such as "Study Builder", "Reviewer" or "Test Author" are defined once for your Organization. They can then be used in every Project, in every URL your Organization owns.
Set up your Project Roles before you invite people. When you invite someone to a Project you choose one of these roles for them.
Creating a Project Role
Go to your Organization home page.
Click the Project Roles card.
Click Add Project Role.
Enter a name and a description.
Switch on the permissions the role needs. Select All and Select None help when a role needs most or few of them.
Click Save.
Each permission is described on the Project Role permissions page.
If your Organization's license does not include a permission, you will not be able to switch it on. See Project Roles and licenses.
Tip
When you are starting out, a single role with every permission lets you begin work straight away. As your team grows, add roles with fewer permissions and move people to them.
Changing a Project Role
Open the role from the Project Roles list to change its name, description or permissions. The change applies straight away to everyone who holds the role, in every Project.
Merging Project Roles
If two roles have become the same in practice, you can merge them.
On the Project Roles list, select two or more roles.
Click Merge.
Choose the name and description to keep. The dialog shows the permissions the merged role will have.
Click Merge Roles.
The merged role has every permission that any of the selected roles had. Everyone who held one of them now holds the merged role.
Deleting a Project Role
Warning
Deleting a Project Role removes everyone who holds it from their role in every Project. They will no longer be able to work in those Projects until they are given another role.
