Project Roles and licenses
Your Organization's license is a number of users at each license tier. Each Project Role falls into one tier, depending on the permissions it includes. Each user counts against the highest tier of any Project Role they hold.
The license tiers
TrialGrid works out a role's tier from its permissions.
Tier |
A Project Role is in this tier when it has |
|---|---|
Full Access |
both Edit Objects and Manage Tests (in the Drafts group) |
Standards and Study Build |
Edit Objects, but not Manage Tests |
Automated Testing |
Manage Tests, but not Edit Objects |
Diagnostics |
permission to run, manage, copy or fix Diagnostics, but neither of the above |
Workflow |
other permissions only, such as Comment, Create Ticket, Files, Wiki, Label, or Approve and Lock Draft |
View |
no permissions |
You can see each Project Role's tier on the Project Team pages, in the License column.
What your license allows
If your Organization has a Full Access license, or no tiers are set, every permission can be used in a Project Role.
Otherwise, Project Roles can only be given the permissions that your licensed tiers include. When you create or change a Project Role, the permissions outside your license cannot be switched on.
Some permissions need more than the tier they are counted in:
Create Draft needs a Diagnostics license or higher. A role with Create Draft and no other higher-tier permission is still shown as Workflow.
Manage Project can always be switched on, so that Project Owners can manage their own Project.
This check applies when permissions are added. A role that already had permissions outside your license keeps them. If you are not sure, compare your roles with the Licenses page.
Reading the Licenses page
Go to your Organization home page.
Click the Licenses card.
For each tier the page shows:
- Contracted
How many users your license allows at this tier.
- Actual
How many active users hold a Project Role at this tier. This count is updated regularly, not the moment a role changes.
- Used
How many users last month used permissions that needed this tier.
- Status
Whether the tier is within its limit, at its limit or over it.
Project Owners are listed separately. They are not a license tier.
To change your license, contact TrialGrid Ltd through support@trialgrid.com.
